Post Care

  • Leave the saniderm wrap on for a minimum of 24 hours. The longer you leave it on, the quicker it will naturally heal. Leave it on no longer than 4 days. To remove the bandage, gently peel it back with the help of warm water.

  • When the clear bandage comes off, wash the tattoo twice a day with antibacterial soap for at least 7 days. Do not rebandage. PLEASE NOTE: It’s normal for there to be some ink residue when you remove the wrap.

  • Apply a thin layer of healing balm (A&D Ointment or Aquaphor) at least 3 times a day for 30 days or until the skin returns to its original condition.

  • Always wash your hands with antibacterial soap before caring for your new tattoo. Keeping your new tattoo clean and hydrated is going to give you the best results during the healing process.

  • DO NOT soak your tattoo in a tub, sauna, jacuzzi or go swimming for a least two weeks or until your new tattoo is healed.

  • Avoid letting hot water run directly on the tattoo. After showering, pat dry with a clean paper towel. It is normal for the area to be itchy while it’s healing. DO NOT scratch or pick. Avoid wearing tight or restricting clothing that might rub against the tattoo.

  • Avoid direct sunlight for at least 2 weeks or until healed. Extreme sun exposure over the years can and will fade your tattoo. To minimize fading, apply sunscreen (at least SPF25).

  • Your tattoo should heal in 4-5 weeks. Consult your Physician if any signs or symptoms develop such as redness at the site, discharge, and/or fever.

  • A tattoo is is a medical procedure/wound- if you do not care for it by the recommendation of your artist it can cause adverse effects on your tattoos healing process.
